Resume Tips for Pharmacy Professionals | Tip #5

with Tom Alig | Vice President of Staffing at Indispensable Health

Hi, I am Tom Alig, VP of Staffing with Indispensable Health. I’ve been recruiting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians since 2004, and I’ve seen the things good candidates do to separate themselves, and I’ve seen the mistakes that some candidates make.

This is the fourth in a series of short videos on suggestions for preparing your resume for a pharmacy position.

Today’s Tip: Match your cover letter to the position

If the job posting is for a pharmacy technician at an inpatient hospital, highlight your experience mixing IV’s and replenishing med dispense.

If the ad is for a retail pharmacy position, point to how you have provided great customer service, while solving insurance issues and processing an average of 150 scripts a day.

Paint a picture of what you’ve done that matches what’s in the job posting. Pick out three things in the job posting that you’ve done, and write a few sentences for each of those three things.

Doing this shows you are not only qualified for the position, but it also makes you stand out from other candidates who may have not customized their cover letter for the job.

Again, customize your cover letter for the job you are applying for.
