Resume Tips for Pharmacy Professionals | Tip #2
with Tom Alig | Vice President of Staffing at Indispensable Health
Hello, I am Tom Alig, Vice President of Staffing with Indispensable Health.
I’ve been recruiting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians since 2004, and I’ve seen the things good candidates do to separate themselves, and I’ve seen the mistakes that some candidates make.
This is the second in a series of short videos on suggestions for preparing your resume for a pharmacy position.
Today's Tip: Describe what you do most of the time. Use your resume to describe the three things you spend most of your time doing. Use bullet points. Use numbers. For instance, if you work in the outpatient pharmacy world, I want to know that you solve insurance issues, that you dispense medications in a busy pharmacy, that you greet customers by name, that you are a master at ordering stock and looking for expired meds. Whatever the top 3 things you have done within your pharmacy positions are, make sure to list them on your resume.
I don’t need to know how many words per minute you type. This is a pharmacy position. You have specialized skills. I want to know about those specialized skills. Instead, include things like proficiency in IV admixture, inventory management, understanding insurance questions, etc. Using keywords like these (the things you spend most of your time doing) are essential on your resume.
Remember: Describe what you do most of the time. Need some extra help with your resume? I will review your resume for free. Just because you watched this video.
